For the past 12 days, 12 judges went through 53 semi-finalist applications, to determine start-ups which will be named finalists of Pitch AgriHack West Africa 2017, a youth e-agriculture start-up support program of the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA). The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA) and its partners are pleased to announce semi-finalists of the e-agriculture start-up competition Pitch AgriHack West Africa 2017, targeting West African young companies for this edition. Applications were received from 130 start-ups based in 11 West African countries. At this stage, a panel of judges analysed entries mainly on five key criteria: technical eligibility of the service offered; target market; overall quality of descriptions; current market traction and technical solution proposed. Their results culminated in the shortlisting of 53 semi-finalists (initially the best 50 entries were planned to be selected; however, there were ties resulting in an additional number of entries selected).
